Once the correct amount of moisture is added to the powder, it becomes malleable. I then roll it out onto my signature texture, Rocco Hills, which is featured in these stunning earrings.
I then carefully place the textured silver, which has been cut to the correct size and shape, on a heat-resistant piece of paper and onto a mug warmer to let the clay dry out properly. After about six to eight hours, I check the piece(s) to make sure they are bone dry, as any moisture that remains will disrupt the sintering process. Once bone dry, in a “greenware” state, I carefully transfer it to my stainless steel pan, which has black granulated carbon on the top and bottom of the pieces. They fire in two phases, and each phase has a two-hour hold time at 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit, with the second phase at 1,560 degrees Fahrenheit.
